Don’t be mistaken by this how-to article. This article is not for someone who was given two nameserver addresses by their web host and told to add the nameservers to their domain name which is registered at DynaDot. The purpose of this article is to actually register your own nameservers inside DynaDot. If you have started your own web hosting company and have your domain registered with DynaDot then you will need to register your hosting companies nameservers.
First off, whomever you have purchased your reseller hosting package from should create two nameservers for you (ns1.yourdomain.com & ns2.yourdomain.com). They should also give you one IP address for each nameserver (for example: 209.34.222.12). Now that you have your two nameservers and IP addresses it’s time to register them with your domain provider (DynaDot).
1. Login to your DynaDot Account.
2. Click the “Domains” Menu at the Top.
3. In the blue menu directly below the top main menu, click “Name Servers.”
4. Click “Register a domain name server”
5. Now here you will put in your host name (ns1.yourdomain.com) and the IP for that nameserver then press Submit.
6. Repeat step 5 for your second nameserver.
7. Allow upto 48 hours for the changes to take effect.
That’s it! You have now successfully registered the two nameservers given to you by your shared hosting reseller and you are now ready to let your customer’s buy cheap web hosting from you!
Update: This article is kind of outdated. Over time one other Domain Registry / Web Host has shown to be a super choice for registering a new domain name and use them as a web host, too. You have probably heard of them already. So, Matt wants you to check out 1 & 1.
